First Responder: USS New York Commissioning
Strength Forged Through Sacrifice. Never Forget.
Seven and a half tons of steel harvested from Ground Zero were woven into the hull of LPD21, the fifth San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock commissioned into U.S. Naval service. Far more than a simple symbolic gesture, rather, this ship proudly bears the name of the city that was home to so many who lost their lives in the attacks of September 11, 2001.
